{September 10, 2008}   famous Former Phat Fcuk

My teammate and fellow cast member of the Peoples Improv Theater’s weight loss competition Former Phat Fcuk Justin Zell is a finalist to appear on MAD MEN.   You may remember JZ’s  5-point plan for weight loss.  With the stress of the move I have been eating like crap and not exercising at all and I’m worried my weight lost during FPF so now is a good time to review the plan.

#1 – Stop Eating at 7pm each evening.  (the #1 hardest thing for this WGWaFA but worked the most!)

#2 – Get plenty of sleep. Bedtime is 10 pm whenever possible. There’s nothing that can’t be Tivo-ed or replied to in the morning.

#3 – 8-10 glasses of Water each day.  (Hey since I moved I no longer have to walk down the hall to pee!! Bring it on)

#4 – Eat with ease. Smaller portions. Graze instead of stuffing.

#5 – One hour of walking/jogging each week increasing by one hour/day for each month up to 6 days/hours a week. So, 1 hour/day for Sept, 2 hours/days for Oct, etc.

Check out this message from Justin and VOTE!   Dude he’s in DRAG it’s worth watching!!

Nope.  Not for President.  But for a silly contest that I could win!

{September 2, 2008}   Sept 1, 2008

It is Sept 1, 2008.  I moved into my apartment 5 years ago today.  That means for 5 years, I have been taking my keys to walk down the hall and back in the front door to pee.  I can’t even think on that too hard.

Since I have moved into this apartment, I have had my heart broken twice.  Made a lifelong incredible friendship with my roommate who, poor dear, had to live through me getting my heart broken twice.  Paid off all my debt, put myself through a two year writing program, and put such good use to my bed that I broke the frame and it is now propped up on bricks.  It is time to go.

This week I move into my own place.  A small studio, but it is my own.  And I don’t have to walk down the hall to go to the bathroom.  I am exhilarated.  And I am petrified.  All weekend I donated, tossed, and recycled as much of my old life as I could.   I’ve always had a hard time letting go of things and this process was really hard and completely freeing.  I’m ready for new.  In all areas.

In the spirit of new, and honoring the unwelcome changes people are now facing in their lives due to hurrican Gustav here is a message I wanted to share with you from America’s Second Harvest who today changed its name to FEEDING AMERICA.

Dear WGWaFA,

The food crisis of the last few months has left our warehouses nearly EMPTY.  Now Hurricane Gustav is slashing into the Gulf Coast, and we urgently need your help to stock the shelves with food in disaster areas.

With two million evacuees and an unknown number more in the path of Gustav, the need for food is going to skyrocket in the coming days.

Please help now.  Every dollar you give will provide $30 worth of food.

Normally, we would have a reserve of food ready to rush to those in need.  NOT NOW.  Exploding demand caused by the slumping economy and spiraling food and fuel costs has virtually emptied many of our food banks.  And as evacuees begin reaching out for help – your gift is more urgently needed than ever.

With every dollar providing $30 of food, you can see how big your impact can be:  A gift of $50 provides $1,500 worth of food.  A gift of $100 provides $3,000 worth.

Please give to our Disaster Relief Fund in the next 24 hours!

America’s Second Harvest is now Feeding America

As of September 1, 2008, America’s Second Harvest will be called Feeding America.  Research has told us that making this change will not only make our mission of fighting hunger and feeding Americans in need relevant to more people, but it will allow for increased awareness of a problem that is hidden to most — 35 million Americans facing hunger. As our new name suggests, our mission is the same as always — to feed America’s hungry.
