| CONGRESS OVERRIDES PRESIDENT’S VETO OF FARM BILL |
| America’s Second Harvest extends sincere thanks to you for contacting your Members of Congress in support of the Farm Bill. As you may know, Congress voted last week to override the President’s veto of the Farm Bill, officially making the bill law. On behalf of the 25 million Americans served by our network of over 200 food banks and 63,000 local food agencies. In the month of May alone, we were able to generate over 4,600 emails, faxes and letters to Members of Congress urging them to vote in favor of the Farm Bill.It is concerned citizens like you that help create the political willpower to end hunger in America. Congress heard your message loud and clear, and they responded appropriately by passing the Farm Bill despite overwhelming odds and the President’s strong opposition. With your help, we have shown Congress that Americans care about their fellow citizens and believe that nobody should go hungry in America.We encourage you to use the Hunger Action Center to thank those Members of Congress for voting in favor of overriding the President’s veto. For those that opposed the override, you can tell them why you believe the Farm Bill is important and urge them to support federal nutrition programs in the future. We continue to contact you through the Hunger Action Center when important legislation that can help hungry Americans finds its way to the legislative agenda, and we hope you respond as impressively as you did during the Farm Bill.
